Janet
and I were married on September 9, 1950 in St. Monica's Church in Detroit,
Michigan.
I attended The University of
Detroit and started working in the Ethyl Corporation Research Laboratories as a
chemist. I left Ethyl Corp. to sell laboratory equipment until 1967 when I
joined Oakland University in Rochester, Mi. as a Director of Purchasing. My main
function was to purchase equipment for a new science building. In 1987 I left
Oakland University to become the Senior Purchasing Agent at The University of
Michigan, Flint, near our new home. I retired from U of M in 1992.
Janet
worked part time for Hudson's Department Store in Westland starting in 1968. She
then transferred to the Hudson's store in Flint in 1981. She retired from
Hudson's after 26 yrs in 1994. She continues to meet with fellow employees from
the Westland and Flint stores. Janet likes gardening, reading, and cooking.
We
have 5 boys, twins Richard and Robert, born Sept. 30, 1951. Michael was born
Dec. 6, 1952, David on March 11, 1956 and Jeff on May 7, 1962. We currently have
10 grandchildren and one great grandchild who we visited in May, 2004.
We moved from Livonia, Michigan to
the Fenton/Linden, Michigan area in 1981. Fenton is located just south of Flint
in the Southeast area of the state. Our
home is on a water channel between 2 lakes. We are both Master Gardeners. I
do the tours for Bordines Nursery in Clarkston, one of the largest nursery's in
the state. We are also active in the Open Gate Garden Club in Fenton and the
Hartland Audubon.
We are
active at St. John's Catholic Church in Fenton. We like to travel with our
Fenton senior group, the "Forget Me Nots". We have been to Switzerland
and Scotland with them as well as other destinations around Michigan and the
U.S. We have also traveled South to visit with our son, Robert, and to the West
to visit with our son Jeff while he lived in Camarillo, Calfornia, north of Los
Angles as well as his new home in Easton, PA. Robert's family resides in
Georgetown, Texas, north of the Austin area. They have also lived in Midland,
Austin and Round Rock Texas.
